Burning Barn rum label embellishment

Burning Barn rum labels have been designed by Green Chameleon, with the whole theme conceived from the company owner’s family barn being burnt down! The branding and packaging captures the smoking barn with an eye catching logo of the titular barn set ablaze.

Each label achieved a bold look by using an uncoated matt black paper stock for the bottle and a recycled, uncoated white stock for the batch label giving both a tactile feel. Through combining these paper stocks with embossed matte foils and metallic inks, Amberley Labels printed and produced a great contrasting label.

The gold embossed foil displays hints of copper, yellow and orange which are colours we associate with fire and spice, highlighted to complement the ‘forged from fire’ spiced rum label. The silver ink in turn added tones of blue, purple and greys that reflected the smoking barn imagery for the smoked rum label.

Here at Amberley Labels we are proud to have been part of this premium packaging project, delivering expectations for this quality brand and product.

Our latest investment

Our new machine has arrived with blue skies and the sun shining! just days before the first deluge of snow here in Dorset!

Our latest investment in the Digicon series 3 digital finishing equipment, is supplied from abg who are a clear market leader providing latest development and design. The modular system has been tailored to our individual requirements giving us 2 flexo stations for adding colours, varnishes or cold foil, plus a hot foil/embossing head and both semi and full rotary die cutting options. This gives us the choice to use as a stand alone printing press or as a digital print conversion press. Being flexible is integral to the business and will compliment our existing abg digital finishing equipment.

Better efficiency serves our customers and the planet well

The Digicon series 3 make ready times and material use will be reduced by up to 20%. We can also expect to see an increase in speed, due to the shuttle web control system which allows the machine to run jobs consistently at higher speeds. Therefor saving valuable energy which continues to improve our eco credentials

Christmas and New Year holidays

All of the team here at Amberley Labels, would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your colleagues a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year for 2018. We shall be closing from 1.00pm on Friday 22nd December 2017 until Tuesday 2nd January 2018

Each year, rather than sending Christmas cards we are making charitable donations to those who need our support, whether in our local community of Blandford or a national/global organisation. This year we are continuing to support “Blandford Opportunity Group” who do an amazing job of supporting children with special needs, in their pre-school here in Blandford Forum.

Blandford Opportunity Group is a pre-school for children with special needs. The group opened in 1992 at the request of the Dorset Community NHS Trust professional staff. They help children from Blandford and the surrounding areas.

Amberley Labels celebrate a 6 figure investment in a brand new 8 colour flexo press

To celebrate the installation of our brand new shiny press we held a ribbon cutting ceremony with special guest Chris Strong who is the former owner and founder of Amberley Labels. He purchased the land in Blandford and had the factory built more than thirty years ago. It is an exciting time here at Amberley Labels with new opportunities and technology for the whole company. A great afternoon last Thursday, followed by champagne and nibbles.

Trevor Smith MD “Edale offers the best combination of suitable technology, a knowledgeable team and synergy with our requirements. We plan to produce multi-colour labels on specialist materials, such as multi-layer material labels. Using Edale technology, we are able to replace two of our existing presses with one”.

After much consideration here at Amberley Labels, Managing Director Trevor Smith chose to purchase the new 8 colour Edale FL3 which features AiiR print automation and delivers: improved registration accuracy, reduced wastage and set-up times, reduced tooling cost and operator intervention leading to a more consistent, higher quality final product for our customers.

Award winning trainee of the year from Printweek

Congratulations go to our very own Printweek ‘Trainee of the Year’ Ryan Samways.

Ryan shone in this category – Judges citation

Amberley Labels are proud of Ryan’s success for the prestigious win at the Printweek awards. Colleagues joined him on the night to help him celebrate last Monday in the packed Great Room at London’s Grosvenor House, hosted by Miles Jupp with more than 800 guests.

The biggest cheer of the night was reserved for our youngest person who received the spectacular trophy for reprographics trainee of the year. Ryan said he was ‘absolutely elated to have been named Trainee of the Year. “I had no knowledge of print at all before I started; I was initially interested in the creative aspect and that drew my attention to the sector. But now I like to see how complex the processes can get and understand the technical aspects’. “Amberley Labels has given me all the support I needed and I’ve never felt more welcome”

“Amberley has given me all the support I needed and I’ve never felt more welcome”

It was not an easy time at school for Ryan, ‘a bit like fitting a square peg into a round hole’. And then it all clicked into place when as a sixth former, he joined us here at Amberley labels on a modern apprenticeship in 2014. He now has attained a Level 3 NVQ diploma in digital pre-press and is a valued full time reprographics operator, creating PDF proofs, stepping files and focusing on a large-format venture for our company here in Blandford, Dorset.

Managing director Trevor Smith is “delighted Ryan grasped his opportunity”

When two become three . . .

Proving that there is so much more to digital than just producing short runs, three visionary printing companies have formed a new partnership that works closely with brands to make them ‘smarter’.

Label printing company Amberley Adhesive Labels, which is based in Blandford Forum in Dorset, is also very much part of the cooperation. The company is an innovator in self-adhesive labels and supplies to big brands, such as Coca-Cola, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Farrow & Ball and Fortnum & Mason, as well as smaller artisan brands and craft gin distilleries. It installed its first HP Indigo press back in 2003.

‘As one of the very early adopters of digital print production, Amberley is delighted to be working alongside Ultimate and Kalas as the label partner in this exciting new venture,’ commented managing director Trevor Smith. ‘Having worked on digital packaging campaigns, such as Share a Coke and IrnBru’s Your Clan, we have seen the value that packaging can bring to a marketing or sales campaign.’ He continued, ‘With these three market-leading, experienced companies working closely together, we will be able to cover virtually any digital packaging campaign requirement and ensure seamless integration across the various formats. It really is a great opportunity for brands to leverage their marketing spend to a new level.’

‘Amberley is a very forward-thinking company,’ commented Mr Tonge. ‘They supply labels to a whole range of brands that would very much like to buy what Kalas and Ultimate can offer as well.’ Mr Evans added, ‘And they are different brands to the ones we normally deal with, so we complement each other really well. The great thing about us all using the HP format is that the files are exactly the same, so there is no issue with consistency across the different types of packaging.’
