Coveris further strengthens Labels & Board business with acquisition of Amberley,

Coveris confirms that it has acquired 100% of the shares of Amberley Adhesive Labels Ltd a company based in Dorset, UK. The deal was closed 31 July at an undisclosed amount.
After a three-year modernisation program and extensive investments in state-of-the-art equipment Coveris has recently finalised the acquisition of Amberley, an UK based manufacturer of high-quality self-adhesive labels, to further strengthen its Labels & Board business.
“Introducing our Coveris strategy, we clearly committed ourselves to invest and grow our business in high potential areas. The acquisition of Amberley clearly underpins this endeavour. We are very much looking forward to a successful expansion of our labels capabilities and further develop the potential of our new facility.” comments Jakob Mosser, CEO Coveris, on the deal.
The labels business of Coveris currently focuses on serving the fresh, chilled and ambient markets whilst Amberley’s footprint is dedicated to the personal care and home markets. With extensive digital printing capabilities, the integration of Amberley marks not only an expansion into new markets but also an increased focus on extending its digital printing technology capabilities.

New Appointment

Amberley Labels are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Andrews to our external sales team, as we continue with our strategic plan to expand our knowledge and sales resource available to all customers.

Rick has an extensive field sales background and joins us as an Account Manager, promoting both our digital and conventional label and packaging products. His knowledge of printed and plain labels, including technical experience of hardware (thermal printers) extends our customer support and Account Management capabilities.

When asked about joining Amberley, Rick quoted “I am excited to be with Amberley, so far my experience has been all positive and have been very pleased with the level of support given to the sales team. I can already see that the combination of flexographic and digital capabilities under one roof opens up all sorts of possibilities and opportunities for our customers.”

Rick is a welcomed new team member and we wish him all the success in his new role. He is supported by our Sales Manager David Beeby and an industry award winning Customer Services team.

Finat Label Awards 2019

We are proud to announce that Amberley Adhesive labels has won an award from the European Label Forum (ELF). The category award is for our use of digital toner technologies to produce the Jack Vettriano Gin labels.

These premium labels demanded to be produced as close as possible to the original painting’s, which are a rather beautiful oil on canvas. Amberley achieved this effect with the combination of material choice, Martele blanc from Avery Dennison with its subtle texture and the exacting photographic quality of the HP Indigo press.

The limited editions were sequentially numbered to indicate the rarity of the product and promote the exclusivity of the bottles. Several ultra rare editions were individually signed by the illustrious artist Jack Vettriano.

Great little sticker booklet

Amberley Labels have recently delivered a decorative 12 page sticker booklet to Bomb Cosmetics. The creative project enabled the customer to attach the booklet directly to the gift.

Within the 12 page booklet both sides have a variety of removable stickers printed and cut on both front and reverse pages. Produced on our UV Flexo 8 color Edale FL3 (5 colours – CMYK and pink pantone) then finished with a matt varnish. The material can be die-cut on both sides, allowing every possible area of ​​the booklet to be used. To complete they were finally folded, stapled and cut to size with a hole punched through allowing the booklet to be tied and attached to the product packaging.

This particular booklet was produced using our flexo press, we can offer exactly the same format with our digital presses, including additional features:

• Personalisation with names and QR codes etc;

• Unique designs using our Mosaic and Collage software;

• A large number of variants that reproduce with exacting photographic quality from our HP Indigo digital presses

Work of Art

Jack Vettriano Gin has been launched by Commercial Spirits with a limited edition bottling of a premium London Dry Gin, distilled at 44% abv for Britain’s best selling artist in conjuction with the UK’s premium retailer Harvey Nichols.

Four of Jack Vettriano’s iconic paintings were paired with the delicious, award winning Gin with only 100 bottles of each of the four paintings featured in the collection including the famous Singing Butler, Billy Boys, A kind of loving & Along came a spider. A Number of these were exclusively and personally signed by Jack Vettriano in this ultra rare digitally numbered release.

Commercial Spirits has a team of creative designers who specialise in concept creation and alcohol packaging, who can turn those concepts in to a tangible product and direct relationships with retail buyers and distributors who help us get the product to the forefront of the target market.

Jack Vettriano Publishing have raised over £10,000 for charitable causes through this project by donating the first bottles, as well as four one-off signed and dedicated Gicleé prints.

Clear Perfection with ‘no label look’

Shorts Boy Distillery has produced a truly inspirational rum. Tidal Rum is a golden aged rum infused with oak smoked pepper dulse foraged at low tide in Jersey (UK).

The main label was printed using a clear on clear substrate, giving the appearance of being invisible when adhered to the clear glass bottle to deceive the eye and highlight the actual design elements, which were produced on the digital press. Then a gloss varnish was applied to finish creating a premium look and feel for the finished product as you can see in the images below.

Front Cover Exclusive

Don’t miss the latest issue of the Digital Labels & Packaging Magazine, HP have a front cover exclusive printed by Amberley Labels for the January/February edition.

How we did it:

HP silver electroink creates the metallic effect, whilst the invisible yellow and blue ink are only visible under a UV light, it showcases the performance suitable for a variety of security features. The photographic image was printed using an enhanced productivity mode (EPM) where 3 colour printing is used to create black images using CMY and increase throughput by 33% whilst using 25% less energy. The cover is printed on Transparent PVC foil supplied by Avery Dennison.

Each year, rather than sending Christmas cards we are making charitable donations to those who need our support, whether in our local community of Blandford or a national/global organisation. This year we are continuing to support “Blandford Opportunity Group” who do an amazing job of supporting children with special needs, in their pre-school here in Blandford Forum.

Blandford Opportunity Group is a pre-school for children with special needs. The group opened in 1992 at the request of the Dorset Community NHS Trust professional staff. They help children from Blandford and the surrounding areas.

Embossed film

Previously it was only possible to embellish labels with embossing effects on paper substrates. Here at Amberley we can now emboss designs onto film. This will provide a new opportunity for embellishing labels that can withstand storage in a bathroom environment. The new film will deliver a premium feel and standout effect on the ever competitive consumer shelves.
