CASE STUDY 2

Marks & Spencer - Floral Range

Background
In November 2004 Amberley were asked to submit a design proposal to M&S on the re-launch of the "Floral" toiletries range.

Amberley provided mock-ups to look at the overall design and style of the new range. This was done using the HP digital press. During our initial discussions with M&S and their designers impressions were very negative. This was due to digitals historical performance of poor quality. After showing the sample products the negative feeling was quickly changed to a very positive one, much too there own surprise and delight.

M&S set very high demand on the look and feel required from the product once on the shelf. Colour matches and brand identity were key factors in the project success.

The key factors that contributed to the success of this project were:-
1) Samples that set a new standard for the finished product.
2) Colour consistency across the range
3) Vibrant Colours
4) Shorter lead times and the ability to reduce stock holding
5) Cost effective production and the reduction in overall design costs.

Customer Feedback
"I have just put in the post some samples of the New Floral relaunch items- I must say they are looking fabulous- just wanted to share this with you and your Team. M&S are over the moon, as are we. When the next four variants come through I'll send some more samples- I think the designs are award winners!"
